Releases From The Hectic Run-Up
The busy people of our booking group are working like crazy in this final phase of the programming for this year’s SPOT Festival, and this week we can add 50 more concerts to the program.
One of the acts is the super group Av Av Av (photo above) consisting of Eloq, Unkwon and DJ E.D.D.E.H. On their own all three of them are household names on the Danish electronic scene, but it is together as Av Av Av, however, that they have really kicked in doors both in Denmark and internationally. They make no attempts to hide their ambitions to make it beyond the Danish borders.
Faroese FRUM (photo left) is also in the line-up now with her electronic pop – she played at SPOT last year, which resulted in both a booking deal and several major festival gigs, including some in Germany. The Danish singer-songwriter star Mads Langer is also going to drop by with a solo show with only a guitar (or a piano) between him and the audience in the packed concert hall. They are also beginning to pick up on Langer abroad – thus, he has recently made a worldwide deal with the German label Starwatch.
As the name indicates, Roots&Hybrid – an independent festival during SPOT – focuses on musical roots from practically all parts of the world and the ways they may be mixed into new hybrids. Here the final eight acts have now been confirmed for the line-up including the extraordinary collaborative project “Reflctions meets Días Nórdicos”, which will bring together musicians from Gambia, Argentina, and Denmark (see article).
The Copenhagen music organization SPOT The Future presents metal from Livløs and the visually accentuated genre fusion Takykradia and five additional acts. The Danish talent initiative KarriereKanonen presents 12 acts working in very diverse genres. The Copenhagen label / music union Pipeline Collective adds seven acts to the list while Aarhus-based Limbo Collective clearly knows what’s happening in SPOT’s hometown and adds eight acts to the line-up.
To be continued…
