One world above, another below: A fusion of classical composition music, electro-sound and travel impressions
Composer/musician Lil Lacy will be performing the chamber opera “One world above, another below” at SPOT – a Concert in Movement composed for Århus Sinfonietta, with soprano soloist Katinka Fogh Vindelev (from the quartet We Like We), electronic composer Tobias Sejersdahl, who has made an electronic soundtrack for the piece, and the Japanese conductor and composer Rei Munakata.
The piece is an artistic exploration of the classical music traditions paired with the electronic universe for a journey across musical genres and instruments. The inspiration for the work stems from Lil Lacy’s life and serves as a fusion of classical and electronic music rooted in Scandinavian traditions paired with impressions from travels abroad. The merging of the different traditions explores how we experience the world around us in a context that is inevitably characterized by what we know, faced with the new we discover.
For Aarhus Sinfonietta the exciting collaborations are about constantly revising their repertoire through diversity and rethinking of the concert format, thus continuously developing and expanding the rules for how classical music can be written and composed in contemporary settings.
