Name: Briony Edwards

Media Name: Louder/Metal Hammer

Based in: London, UK

Can you tell us a bit about the company’s history and its roster? Metal Hammer has been providing the world with coverage of the world’s biggest and best rock and metal bands since it was founded in the late 80s; we’ve been representing that ethos online since 2014. Parent site Louder combines all the news and features from Metal Hammer, Classic Rock and Prog and aggregates them online as a destination for all rock and metal fans.

– and a bit about the acts you personally have covered recently? My favourite feature recently was Neurosis vocalist/guitarist Steve Von Till discussing his love for Brazilian experimentalists Deafkids, who are also awesome.

What was the moment you decided you wanted to work with music? I did work experience at Kerrang and Total Rock Radio when I was 15, and knew a career in music journalism was for me ever since.

Who are you looking forward to watching at this year’s SPOT? We’re specifically interested in the metal showcase, so Baest, LLNN, and everyone else playing at Spot Metal.

Best show you’ve ever seen hands down? I once saw Prince in a tiny venue at a secret show in 2014 and it was amazing. Jawbreaker’s reunion show at Chicago Riot Fest was also pretty special.
