Jenny Wilson back at SPOT – in a special setting
Jenny Wilson is one the most original and significant voices in Swedish music. Her fame even grew last year when she released “Exorcism” – a deeply personal and traumatic album revolving around a sexual assault and dressed in uncompromising, raw and hard electronic music.
Now she has just released “TRAUMA”, which in contrast to “Exorcism” is a symphonic-electronic album recorded with a symphony orchestra. However, that is not the only thing that makes the album special: For the first time the lyrics are in her native language. “A frightening but also fascinating challenge”, says Wilson and describes the album as the sister album of “Exorcism”.
It will be material from these two releases which Jenny Wilson is going to present at her first concert at SPOT since 2011. Moreover, the set-up will be different from her previous SPOT performances: Danish Mette Dahl Kristensen is going to arrange the music taken from the two albums for a string ensemble, and at SPOT the music will be performed with Mette Dahl Kristensen’s string ensemble Who Killed Bambi.
An Anniversary
The concert will also mark some kind of anniversary for Who Killed Bambi. In 2009 Mette Dahl Kristensen (picture left) and string players were among the performers at the SPOT opening night, when they backed Danish act Whens Saints Go Machine. This led to the creation of Who Killed Bambi in 2010, and since then they have accompanied Danish and Nordic artists such as Ane Bruun, Steffen Brandt, etc. at SPOT in Mette Dahl Kristensen’s arrangements.
