Great acts continue to emerge

SPOT is more than a long string of exiting showcase concerts. The festival is also eager to present special collaborations, and this week we can add a few more to the bill:

Wrenne (UK – Top picture) is among the new announcements – a one woman musical/multimedia show presenting a the-journey-is-the-destination tale with unexpected twists, end melodic electro pop – plus dance, acrobatics and intense trampoline work! Another example is Danish Bisse & Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. Bisse, a popular indie/alternative artist, will present his 9th album “Tanmaurk” with the help of violins, cellos, brass section and much more. And we also have Ghost Coast Choir taking choral singing in a new direction: classical choir harmonies, contemporary lyrics with electronic manipulation.

Among the other special events we would like to highlight Per Bloch, who presents eight love songs sung in eight different languages, taken from his new album “Kokoro”. And we have Marc Facchini, who focuses heavily on the Climate changes.

Another new release is Leonora Christina Skov & Kristina Holgersen in a special collaboration with the award-winning Danish author Leonora Christina Skov and the experienced musician, Kristina Holgersen, an event based on mutual inspiration – music from literature and vise versa.

Among the other additions are LISS (picture left)– a defining act for Danish alternative soul and R’n’B since their debut four years ago. After some quiet years LISS are back and ready to reclaim their position with a SPOT concert, which will include new music. Another new release is Farveblind, who were quickly recognized in the Danish underground for their intense and energetic live performances. Last January they released their debut EP in collaboration with Steve Dub.

Girl Power at SPOT
DUP (Danish Independent Record Companies) and Wonderwhy & We Are Suburban (Music Companies) are collaborating with SPOT. This year they both bring girl power to the line-up.

DUP’s showcase at SPOT is a great place to investigate what is happening on the independent music scene, and this year the girl power is fierce and represented by e.g. Excelsior showcasing her polyphonic confessions. Her sound combines electronic computer sounds with jazzified wind players and great chorus arrangements. O / RIOH is a producer and through a study of hip hop culture O / RIOH expresses explosive feelings such as anger and frustration and thus creates her own form of political activism through her music. Other Releases from DUP: ELBA, GRETA, Ida Wenøe, KOM VI LØBER, LUxCA, Mr. Koifish, Sara Lew, SUNDAYS, And formOther Releases from Wonderwhy & We Are Suburban: ELBA, Girlcrush, Manila, Rebecca Lou
